The Bike Porch – Consignment Program

Welcome to The Bike Porch in Forest, VA! We love all bikes and know every rider has their favorite. Our consignment program is designed to help quality bicycles find new homes while providing a safe, professional, and seller-friendly experience.

How the Program Works

We accept select high-demand brands and models that fit our local market. Bikes will be listed for sale after a thorough inspection and any necessary maintenance is completed. Pricing is set by agreement between the seller and The Bike Porch to ensure fair market value.

Important: You will need to bring your bike to 1219 Burnbridge Road, Forest, VA for an in-person inspection before it can be accepted for consignment.

Accepted Brands & Bike Types

We accept premium brands such as:

  • Trek

  • Specialized

  • Cannondale

  • Scott

  • Transition

  • Giant

  • Yeti

  • Santa Cruz

  • Orbea

Types of bikes: road, gravel, mountain, cyclocross, gravel adventure, and eligible e-bikes.

Condition requirements: Bikes must be clean, safe, and fully functional. No bent frames, unsafe parts, or unknown brands.

Note: We love all bikes! Some may not fit the resale program. We reserve the right to decline any bike that may not fit the market, condition, or other factors.

Safety Check

All bikes undergo a mandatory safety check for $20.

Payment options for the safety check fee:

  1. Pay up front at drop-off.

  2. Add the $20 to your commission and deduct it from the sale proceeds.

  3. Pay when picking up an unsold bike.

Fee waiver: If you choose to donate your bike to the shop after 90 days, the $20 safety check fee will be waived.

All maintenance or parts needed to make the bike sale-ready are the responsibility of the seller, at The Bike Porch’s standard shop rates.

Consignment Duration & Price Reductions

  • Bikes stay on consignment for up to 90 days.

  • Suggested price reductions:

    • Days 0–30: full asking price

    • Days 31–60: 5% reduction

    • Days 61–90: 10–15% reduction

This allows bikes to remain competitive in the market while giving sellers flexibility.

Store Credit Option: Sellers may choose store credit instead of cash at a 10% lower commission, encouraging reinvestment in gear, parts, or your next ride.

Marketing & Visibility

  • Bikes are displayed in-store and online to maximize exposure.

  • Featured bikes may be highlighted near the end of the consignment period or discounted to encourage a quick sale.

Unclaimed Bikes

Any bike not picked up within 120 days of the consignment period will become the property of The Bike Porch.
